The Davis Street Experience

Davis Street Hermann Park

As soon as I walked in I was in a daze. From the entrance, to the hostess greet and the fine interior, I was already convinced this was a grand idea. A couple weeks ago I was invited to go to Davis Street by Hermann Park for “Houston Restaurant Weeks”, I did my social stalk and it was safe to say the social platforms and reviews passed.

I automatically fell in aw with the interior. Details from the lighting to the exquisite food were in perfect place. As I walked in I was greeted and taken to a small back area where my friends awaited. Of course, I took part in ordering off the “Houston Restaurant Weeks” menu. As I sat I was quickly greeted sincerely by our waiter. Then, came the best part…the food.

For my first course I was easily convinced by the Shrimp Ceviche. I’ve had this dish on multiple occasions, but Davis St. ceviche was definitely a favorite. The avocado, gulf shrimp and citrus wontons were simply perfection.

On to the second course, I chose to go away from my comfort zone, which is chicken. The Stuffed Halibut was beyond my expectations. I’m pretty sure Halibut is my new favorite flakey white fish. The herb risotto with a zesty cream sauce was insane. Usually, I’m a picky person, but this time I didn’t complain one bit. The only regret I had was that I didn’t pair my fish with a white wine. Next time!

Even though I couldn’t dare to get dessert it was necessary. I had to make a sacrifice since chocolate wasn’t available, but the Red Velvet Parfait held up to my expectations.

I’m still new to Houston. So, little by little I go out and try to find my place that I overall enjoy. Davis St. was beyond delightful and I will be back on a Friday night for some Jazz and a little or a lot of red wine. Be sure to check out their Facebook for up to date promotions and events!
