5 Tips for Having a Productive Day

Sometimes, particularly at the heart of the holiday season, it’s easy to allow lethargy to come over you. The weather gets colder, the days get shorter, and our task-lists seem to grow longer. Instead of giving into your lack of motivation, practice these 5 tips for a successful day!

1. Get up when your alarm goes off the first time

We know this is way easier said than done. To acclimate yourself, try setting your alarm a few minutes earlier than you need to get up, that way you don’t have to jump right out of bed on the first try. Hitting snooze can cause stress and make you rush, feeling unprepared. Easing into the morning by giving yourself plenty of time and adjusting your body clock can help you feel ready to take on the day!

2. Take small breaks throughout the day

Everyone is at risk for hitting a wall, sometimes. Walking away from a task for a few moments can help you refresh your mind and thoughts. Take a few minutes to focus on something non-work related, whether it’s eating a snack, doodling, or listening to a podcast..

3. Make a list of goals to accomplish for that day

Make a realistic list and focus on the things you need to get done, including which tasks take the highest priority. Your goal is to try to cross off every task on your list by the end of the day!

4. Stay energized

We’re all too familiar with the post-lunch urge to nap. Your belly is full and happy, and all you want to do is sleep.. This calls for a midday pick me up! Before you pour a third cup of coffee, try taking a quick walk around the office, or find natural sources of caffeine through apples, carbohydrates, or even caffeinated peanut butter (tell us how it is). 5. De-stress

Once again, easier said than done. Tasks pile up, things need to happen “NOW,” and sometimes we just get overwhelmed or hit that wall again. Instead of melting down or giving in, try discussing the issue and brainstorming with co-workers. Sometimes someone else's input can make a world of difference! You can also try practicing techniques outside of work that help relieve stress at work - working out (check out our Fitness blog for inspiration!), reading or - our favorite - taking a bubble bath!

It’s easy to go through the motions when we get in a routine, or when the days start to feel longer and longer. Instead of falling into a rut, these tips can help you stay productive with the tasks at hand, and motivated for the tasks to come! Share your favorite way to stay motivated with us on Facebook
